Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an extensive knowledge of how to keep children safe from harm. She is watchful for any signs that a child may be at risk of harm and knows how to report her concerns. She meticulously places a high priority on protecting children's safety at home and when out on trips. The childminder regularly seeks the views of others, to help her to evaluate the quality of her childcare provision. She knows her strengths and areas she would like to develop further. She understands the importance of opportunities for professional development and training to continue to develop her highly effective skills and knowledge even further. For example, she recently completed training about children's brain development. This allowed her to reflect on her resources and create new motivating activities for the toddlers.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder gathers exceptionally detailed information from parents about what their children can already do when they first start at her setting. She ably uses this information, along with her own observations, to identify children's initial starting points. The childminder extensively challenges children during their play. For example, as toddlers use a tray with rice, she skilfully questions and encourages them to predict how many containers they will need to fill up different sizes. The toddlers confidently count 'one, two, three, four'. Children are enthusiastic as they watch and speak about a squirrel in the garden and what it is eating. Children are given plenty of time to respond. The childminder extends children's language and communication skills continually. She asks them about what they are doing during their play and encourages them to talk about the healthy food they see in the books they share.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children's behaviour is exemplary. The childminder embeds respect, kindness and sharing through all aspects of her practice. She encourages younger children to help one another, listen carefully and cooperate. For example, toddlers share an activity taking turns posting discs into a pot, and they wait for each other before they have their own turn. Toddlers flourish and develop exceptionally strong bonds with the childminder. They confidently seek her out to share ideas and achievements. For instance, they make birthday cakes with their dough and excitedly sing 'happy birthday' before they blow the imaginary candles out. The childminder promotes highly impressive hygiene practices. Toddlers know to wash their hands before mealtimes and also after they have used tissues to blow their noses.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children thrive in this loving and inclusive environment. They approach all activities with inquisitiveness and consider ways to develop them further. All children are exceptionally well prepared for the next steps in their learning. They demonstrate high levels of confidence and use complex language for their age. They have superb listening and attention skills, and enjoy making their own choices as they initiate their play. For instance, children delight in developing their imaginative skills as they pretend to take the baby and dog for a walk using the many role-play resources available to them.
