Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of safeguarding requirements and knows how to make referrals if she has concerns about a child in her care. She supervises children well and checks the premises and equipment to help children remain safe. The childminder seeks regular training opportunities to further develop her practice. She tracks the progress of each child to identify any gaps and provides good support to help children learn well. The childminder works well with providers and outside professionals to ensure children receive the appropriate support they need. She considers the views and suggestions of parents, children and others to review her practice and to continually provide a good service.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gathers relevant information from parents when their children attend the setting. She observes children during play and uses such information to plan for their next steps. The childminder holds discussions with the children, supports their thinking and shows them how to handle resources with care. Children keenly join in play and respond well to instructions. For example, children use a variety of tools to build their models purposefully. They love to play with role-play dinosaurs and recognise their names and colours. Young children explore toys to find out how things work. The childminder reads stories with children. Children are confident to talk about their favourite pictures and characters.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder and her team are caring and talk to children in calm and gentle manner. For example, the childminder reminds children to say 'please' and 'thank you'. Children learn to share toys fairly, take turns and show consideration to others. Their behaviour is generally good. Children learn about the importance of personal hygiene to reduce the spread of infection. They develop a good understanding of their own identity and the cultural diversity around them. For example, they take an active part in different festivals and make regular visits to the local community. Through outings, for instance, children practise to cross roads safely.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and any gaps in learning are closing. They listen attentively and learn to socialise with others. Children enjoy songs and learn new rhymes and vocabularies. They learn to count, sort and match objects. They are developing good skills to solve problems. Children understand that magnets attract certain materials. They are aware of the changes that happen to the natural world. For example, children know that the weather changes around them.
