and young people since the most recent full inspection

In the short period since the previous inspection, the registered manager and the staff team have continued to improve the service. The service is still relatively new and is growing steadily. No children or young people have been admitted and none discharged during this period. The staff team has remained unchanged and this provides consistency for the children. The staff have developed their work around the use of sensory experiences and have developed a wider range of activities for the children to use. They have also developed closer relationships with children’s schools and with parents and this has helped with consistency of care and has helped children make more progress. The staff produce Inspection report children’s home: 1254371 2 good placement plans and have clear goals and targets in place for each child. The children using the short-break service have made progress and clearly enjoy the

experience of staying at the home. The rate of progress made varies across the children, but all have developed. Staff are patient and tenacious and have made an in-depth assessment in order to fully understand the children’s needs. This approach is now starting to produce good results. The children are kept very safe. Staff ratios are high, the supervision of the children is good, and children are always accompanied when they are out of the home. The staff will use physical interventions when they are needed to keep children safe. This practice is always appropriate and always carried out safely. There have been no safeguarding concerns at all. There have also been no complaints. The registered manager is confident, knowledgeable and experienced and she leads her staff team well. She offers good support to staff through supervision and through regular training. She continues to manage the development of the service by making good

Information about this inspection

Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the differences made to the lives of children and young people. They watched how professional staff work with children and young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care provided. Wherever possible, they talked to children and young people and their families. In addition, the inspectors have tried to understand what the children’s home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people whom it is trying to help, protect and look after.
