Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder knows children incredibly well. Children develop a rich and varied vocabulary. The childminder introduces new words as children play. For instance, children change the tone of tin drums by adding different materials inside them. The childminder introduces words such as 'muffled' to describe the effect heard in the change of sound. Children estimate how many segments are in the orange they will eat at snack time. The childminder helps children to work out the difference between their estimated number and the actual number of segments. Children confidently identify letters of the alphabet and the sounds they represent. They enjoy sharing books and making marks. Older children form letters and numbers. They confidently count and use number as they play and help with routine tasks, including ensuring there are enough plates and cups for everyone at snack time.

She provides children with a safe environment where they can develop their physical skills. Younger children have plenty of space and time to explore a wide range of stimulating resources. All children learn how to prepare food. They spread butter on crackers, accurately identifying rectangles and squares. From an early age, children confidently learn how to use knives safely to chop fruit. Children routinely enjoy outings in the local community. The childminder inspires children's imaginations. Children explore the natural environment as they walk to the local pre-school. They jump in puddles and mix potions using flowers and sticks they find on the way. They compare the lengths of sticks they find, using words such as 'tall' and 'short' to describe them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make consistently high rates of progress given their starting points and capabilities. They are active, confident learners who eagerly try new things. Children are highly independent in play and their self-help skills. They routinely and spontaneously help to clear their plates after they have finished eating snack. Children securely gain the key skills to support the next stage in their learning. They are incredibly well prepared for the move to school when the time comes.
