Arrangements to support children's transition into school are excellent. The childminder is ambitious and has a highly effective, reflective approach to his work. With his co-minder, he identifies that he can further enhance the wonderful experiences for those children who prefer to play and learn outside. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a vast knowledge of how to safeguard children and procedures to follow if he has any concerns. The benefits of regular training increasingly support the childminder's confidence, offering reassurance along with ensuring that his procedures are fully up to date, so children are protected at all times.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder uses his exceptional skills to motivate children and encourage their learning. He provides a superb range of high-quality activities and learning experiences that are expertly tailored to children's interests and individual level of development. Children gain a deep understanding of the world, such as when they carefully observe the growth cycle of butterflies. Children observe with awe and wonder as they let the butterflies free. The childminder enthusiastically builds on children's interests. For instance, when young children are excited about books, the childminder seizes the moment and they snuggle under a table to read favourite stories. The childminder establishes extremely positive partnerships with parents and staff at the other settings children also attend. For example, he routinely shares children's next steps in learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children enjoy a highly stimulating indoor and outdoor environment. They are encouraged to be independent in their play through the excellent organisation and availability of resources. The childminder makes excellent use of local amenities. Trips within the community help to enhance children's superb learning experiences. For example, in the forest, children take safe risks, such as climbing a muddy riverbank. This encourages children to persist with an activity when faced with challenge. Children learn to respect others as they take part in an array of activities, developing their awareness of the lives of others that are both similar and different to their own.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make substantial and sustained progress across all areas of learning. The childminder helps them to be exceptionally well prepared for school. The varying range of activities they participate in helps them to share, take turns and socialise very well from a young age. Children's early communication skills are developing superbly. They babble and use a wide variety of sounds and begin to use single words to name toys and equipment they are playing with.
