Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is extremely attentive to all aspects of children's health, safety and welfare. She has attended training and completes research on a wide range of safeguarding related topics, supporting her to remain vigilant towards identifying potential concerns and how to keep children safe. For example, following receiving information from the organisation 'Kidsafe', the childminder has been introducing age-appropriate conversations that help children understand ways they can keep themselves safe. The childminder monitors children's progress closely and can swiftly identify where children may be slow to develop key skills. As a result, support is implemented where necessary to ensure children maintain their excellent level of development. The childminder has excellent relationships with parents. Every effort is made to involve them in their children's achievements and the next steps in their

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder uses a host of teaching techniques which are sensitively and skilfully applied during her interactions with children. The childminder is particularly effective in providing time for children to explore the extremely well-planned learning environment, and knowing when to join in. She successfully supports and challenges children as they play, steering their learning in different directions. For example, during play in the conker kitchen, the childminder suggests they pretend to be in a cafe. She provides pads and pens, encouraging children to write down their orders, wonderfully promoting their literacy skills. She challenges children to count how many conkers they need in each cake case and asks if they know what shapes the different cases are, greatly supporting children's mathematical skills. Children become entirely absorbed in their learning due to the childminder's exceptional teaching.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children are widely independent and attend to their self-care needs extremely well. The childminder very successfully supports children's good health. They talk about how their snack gives them energy to play and the importance of washing their hands. Children have daily access to outdoor play and physical activity. During dance sessions, the childminder draws children's attention to the different ways their bodies are moving. Children flourish in the care of this kind, nurturing and fun childminder, who meets the individual needs of children particularly well. The childminder is currently working on novel ways to further increase children's already extremely high physical and emotional well-being.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are keen learners who approach all they do with excitement and anticipation. They investigate and test their ideas, try different approaches and persist when challenge occurs. Children listen carefully to stories and join in with the parts they know. They use excellent small-muscle movements, such as when using tongs to pick up conkers. Children are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their learning.
