Effectiveness of leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder completes training to update her safeguarding knowledge. She knows how to recognise potential risks to children's safety and the action to take if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder conducts regular risk assessments to identify and address possible hazards in her home and when away from her setting. The childminder makes good use of the information she gathers from school staff. For example, she shares information about the safe use of technology with children and parents. The childminder tailors her service well to meet the individual needs of children. She takes effective steps to provide an inclusive service, such as enhancing her understanding of how to provide acoustic-friendly environments. All children participate in activities well.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder builds well on children's experiences. She demonstrated this by dressing up as a familiar character to celebrate World Book Day with them. The childminder uses her positive interactions with children well to help support their engagement with school activities. For example, she discusses the friends that children meet during school reading schemes with those who are less confident in this area. The childminder implements activities, such as treasure hunts, to further support children's development in fun ways. Children enjoy completing tasks and tick off items on a list as they find them. They share resources and help their friends. The childminder uses visits and outings to build skills that children need at school. For example, children work things out for themselves as they complete a maze.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder encourages children to become increasingly independent and to develop good self-care skills. Children demonstrate their understanding of routines. They take off their shoes and coats and wash their hands on arrival from school. The childminder provides opportunities for children to acquire positive social skills. Children make friendships and show care for each other. They work together to complete tasks and behave well. The childminder supports children's understanding of other cultures and communities. For example, she acknowledges a range of festivals and celebrations. The childminder demonstrates that the heritage and language of children are valued, for example through the children's displays of their Hebrew and Cypriot writing.
