Safeguarding is effective. The childminder demonstrates an expert knowledge of child protection issues and knows exactly what to do should she have any concerns about children's welfare. Risk assessments are meticulously implemented to ensure that children are cared for in a safe environment. The childminder regularly gathers the views of parents and children to help make improvements to her provision. She is keen to continue to access high-quality training in order to further develop her teaching skills. This commitment contributes to the excellent quality provision she provides.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder has a wonderful ability to recognise when children are captivated by their play and where they are capable of even deeper learning. For example, she watches children play in the water tray and places jugs and bowls nearby. Children fill their containers and carry water around the garden. The childminder uses this opportunity exceptionally well to draw their attention to some pipes that she has recently fitted to the wall. She shows them how the water travels through the pipes and then steps back. She watches as children excitedly pour water into the highest pipe and run to the bottom piece to catch it. She brilliantly introduces the idea of teamwork to the children as she shows them how to work together to catch as much water as possible. She talks to children about what is happening, introducing new vocabulary, such as 'flowing'. Children become engrossed in adding the water to the pipes at different points,

experimenting with different tools to change the flow of the water. They are active, inquisitive and highly engaged in their play.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder is a superb role model. She uses clear and accurate explanations when necessary to support children's excellent behaviour. Children benefit from regular outdoor learning experiences that have an exceptionally positive impact on their well- being and self-confidence. The childminder takes children to a local forest school where they make wonderful memories. They excitedly tell visitors about when they saw a hedgehog. They learn how to keep themselves safe when they use pegs and mallets to help make a fence around the forest school campfire. Even very young children understand that they must not cross the fence and learn to use equipment skilfully and safely.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are brimming with confidence and display excellent levels of independence. They show a genuine love of books and stories and use their emerging counting skills as they play. Children make substantial progress in their learning and development and are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their learning.
