Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps her safeguarding training up to date. She knows the process to follow if she has any concerns about the welfare of children in her care. The childminder ensures her home environment is safe and minimises risks to children's safety. For example, she has comprehensive risk assessments in place. She tests smoke alarms and practises evacuation procedures regularly with children. The childminder has a positive attitude to improving her practice. She seeks views from parents and identifies areas for development. For example, she has purchased new equipment and made improvements to the garden area to support physical development. Parents' feedback shows they are happy with the care and activities provided for their children. The childminder keeps parents well informed about their children's ongoing care and daily activities.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children as they play and gets to know them well. She skilfully plans a good range of challenging and stimulating activities. For example, she provides opportunities for younger children to explore using their senses. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills effectively. For example, she introduces new words, repeats phrases and engages children in interesting conversations. Younger children begin to develop literacy skills by sharing stories and joining in with action songs. The childminder encourages younger children to expand their problem-solving skills as they use shape sorters and build towers with blocks. This helps to increase hand-to-eye coordination.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy their time at the childminder's home. She supports their individual needs effectively and promotes their emotional well-being. For example, younger children respond well to cuddles and have their comfort objects at sleep times. The childminder promotes children's physical development. She plans outdoor activities to ensure children access fresh air and encourages daily exercise. The childminder works with parents to provide nutritious and healthy snacks and meals for children. The childminder helps children learn about the local community. They regularly walk to school and use public transport to visit parks, toddler groups and the farm. She helps to support their social interactions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop a variety of skills to support their next stage of learning and subsequent move to school. Young children are confident and freely explore their surroundings. Children are independent and develop self-help skills. For example, they feed themselves, wash their hands and take off their shoes. Children learn key skills in mathematics. They count and explore shape, size and colours as they play with the dough.
