Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder ensures she keeps up to date with training in order to keep children safe. She is aware of the signs of abuse and neglect, and her duty to prevent children from situations that put them at risk. She builds partnerships with other local childminders and schools in order to develop professional relationships and share good practice. The childminder's records and documentation are thorough and help to promote children's good health, safety and welfare. For example, she robustly risk assesses her home and garden to ensure children are safe and secure. The childminder uses good skills to develop children's communication. She provides interesting activities and introduces new vocabulary as children play. She listens carefully and encourages children to learn to talk. For example, they play games where they listen and respond to music, joining in by singing along and jumping. The childminder supports children to enjoy learning together. For example, she comments on the learning taking place, encouraging children to be interested in each other and participate together.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn to be ready for the next phase in their learning. For example, they develop socially as they play together in a small group and build confidence through familiar and enjoyable learning experiences. Children make progress in their speaking skills, rapidly building vocabulary as they explore in their play. Children learn mathematically as they explore measurement by filling and emptying containers with rice and dried pasta. They enjoy matching shapes and counting stickers. The childminder makes regular assessments of children's learning and uses these to ensure any gaps in learning are carefully planned for.
