Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibility to protect children, and puts into practice effective policies and procedures to ensure their welfare. She knows how to recognise and report any signs that indicate a child may be at risk of harm. The childminder develops some aspects of her practice well. For instance, she recognises her strengths and some areas for improvement, to help develop children's experiences. The childminder attends training courses to keep her knowledge up to date. For example, since her registration she has attended further safeguarding training.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children in her care well overall, and provides them with interesting, age-appropriate experiences. Children confidently play in a well-organised and stimulating environment and independently explore resources. They enjoy imaginative experiences, such as using music to bring their favourite play characters to life. They talk animatedly about their ideas, exploring their creative thinking as they play. The childminder works with parents well. She has established a two-way flow of information with them and offers them advice about how they can help support children's development at home. The childminder provides good opportunities for children to develop their physical and social skills, including during outings to local parks and soft-play groups.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children learn about people's differences and develop respect for others. For instance, they explore toys that reflect the different people in the community. They learn about their own and others' uniqueness through discussions and books. Children are independent and successfully learn to look after themselves and the environment they play in. For example, children happily get themselves ready to go home when a parent is due to arrive. They are keen to explain where things belong when tidying away. The childminder prepares children well for the next stage in their learning.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and learn a variety of skills that prepare them well for their eventual move to school. For example, children learn to use simple mathematical language and develop their social skills well. They develop new vocabulary and good communication skills. Children gain skills in using simple technology, for example, they instruct the 'smart speaker' device to stop the music.
