Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of possible signs and symptoms that could indicate a child is at risk of harm. She knows who to contact should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice and evaluates her provision well. For instance, she has made a focused effort to incorporate children's interests further into planned activities. She carries out research online to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. The childminder uses risk assessments effectively to identify and address hazards to children in her home and when on outings. This helps her to keep children safe and secure while in her care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's mathematical development well. For example, when playing with kinetic sand, the childminder encourages older children to count and compare sizes, developing their mathematical language. The childminder gives children opportunities to express themselves. For instance, younger children thoroughly enjoy dancing to their favourite songs. Children explore the childminder's piano and smile with delight as they create their own music.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides daily opportunities for children to be outdoors and to engage in physical activity. For example, children enjoy daily walks and they regularly visit parks where children have opportunities for climbing and developing their physical skills. The childminder develops children's independence skills well. For instance, children independently blow their own noses and take off their jumpers when they are too warm. The childminder is a good role model and helps children to learn about positive behaviour. She supports children to share and take turns during their play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and independent learners. They develop key skills that will support them in their future learning and their eventual move on to school. Children's behaviour is good, and they are kind and caring towards others. Children enjoy looking at books and drawing, and are beginning to identify letter sounds, which helps to support good literacy skills in readiness for school.
