Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder has a clear vision of how to achieve the very high standards she sets for herself and the children. She challenges children to be highly imaginative and articulate. For example, children use toy utensils to make pretend pancakes. They enthusiastically act out 'Pancake Day'. They learn which utensils to use to mix, whisk and stir batter. They enjoy tossing and catching pretend pancakes in the pan. The childminder rigorously evaluates her provision to make continuous improvements. She networks productively with other childminders and works closely with relevant professionals. The exchange of ideas has led her to remodel some of her environment. As a result, children independently sort out their belongings at the start and end of the childminding day. The childminder has completed assessment training and successfully uses this. She shares children's progress with parents at every step and plans to seek parents' ideas on how

she can extend her service. The childminder fully understands her responsibilities in relation to child protection. She knows how to report any concerns about children's welfare to the relevant professionals. Safeguarding is effective.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder has excellent knowledge and understanding of how young children learn. She encourages them to make small steps to build on success quickly and to move to the next step in learning. The childminder expertly teaches children how to listen to the sounds in words and to link sounds to letters of the alphabet. She knows whether to correct, repeat or extend children's language. Babies confidently join in with sounds and rhymes and very quickly make significant gains in speaking and listening attentively. Children begin to develop their hand muscles towards early writing skills. They manipulate and explore materials first hand. They fill buckets with sand and investigate how much they need to compress the sand to make neat turrets for sandcastles.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder encourages children to value one another. She has put together personal albums for each child. Children are delighted to share family photographs with each other. They talk with animation and confidence about who is in the pictures and how they are related to them. The childminder models careful listening and patience and this helps children develop positive relationships with one another. Children learn with delight about the world and how things work. For example, in the outdoor play area, they fill up their pedal vehicles with 'fuel' at the petrol service station and buy produce from the market stall. They enjoy frequent outings and visits to places of interest, which gives them a broad range of experiences.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children gain excellent skills for the next stage in their education. They demonstrate impressive mathematical skills. They learn to count carefully, recognise numbers and add and take away using objects. Children enjoy books and write their names. They become highly independent. They know when they need to rest, and from a very young age attempt to dress themselves. They cultivate very positive attitudes to learning.
