Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is rigorous in her approach to all aspects of children's health, safety and welfare. Highly effective risk assessments are in place and completed as an ongoing process. The childminder is very knowledgeable and confident in identifying potential signs of abuse and about the procedure to follow should she have any concerns. She works very closely with other childminders to share ideas and best practice. Although the childminder already applies her learning from training extremely well to benefit all children, she is committed to pursuing further targeted professional development. Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the childminder's services and say that they are 'over the moon' with the level of care their children receive.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder accurately identifies next steps for children's learning and fully understands the ways in which individual children learn best. Her expertise in child development enables her to plan a marvellous variety of activities that powerfully capture children's interests. For example, children become enthralled while engaged in hunting for pictures hidden in the garden. They practise their early mathematical skills and solve problems as they work out how many items they need to find to complete the task. Children concentrate extremely well, relative to their ages, as they search high and low in the outdoor area. The childminder is immensely skilled at making the most of opportunities for developing children's communication and language skills during their play. For example, she introduces new vocabulary and expertly uses questioning to extend their learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder collects an impressive range of high-quality information from parents when children first start. This helps to ensure that all children's care needs are known and supports them to settle in well from the outset. She places a high priority on promoting children's emotional and physical welfare. Young children form firm friendships with each other and mix with children of different ages, when they attend local playgroups. They are kind and helpful and learn to share and take turns. The childminder is an excellent role model and provides a wealth of praise and encouragement. She ensures that all children practise very good manners. Children's achievements are proudly celebrated on a 'wow' wall, which helps to support their blossoming confidence. Parents greatly appreciate the nutritional meals and snacks that the childminder provides.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children are especially well prepared for their future learning and the eventual move on to nursery and school. They practise early literacy skills as they have plenty of opportunities to draw, write and make marks both inside and outdoors. Children show their delight in joining in with nursery rhymes and songs. They enthusiastically explore the sounds that they make with musical instruments. Children enjoy listening to their favourite stories. They make independent choices from freely available resources and explore and investigate widely as they lead their own play.
