Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder is an experienced and knowledgeable childcare practitioner. She invests heavily into the life of all of her minded children through developing exceptional relationships with their families. Adult-to-child ratios are kept deliberately low to ensure every child's individual needs are met to the highest level at all times. The childminder has a thorough understanding of the early years foundation stage and strives to maintain excellence. She provides parents with home-learning packs and guidance on various aspects of child development, such as how to support good sleeping routines for babies. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is confident about the procedures to follow if she is worried about a child's welfare. The childminder uses self-evaluation extremely well and values the views of parents and children in order to continually improve and develop her service. She is very aware of the need to continue professional

development to maintain excellent outcomes for children.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder has a superb understanding of how young children learn and develop. She spends dedicated time each day interacting with children individually. The childminder uses a range of highly effective strategies to support children's speech. She introduces children to a variety of nursery rhymes and songs. This helps them to learn about different sounds, rhythm and repetition. When taking younger children on walks, the childminder deliberately uses a pushchair which faces her. This means that children can benefit from watching the childminder's facial muscles and expressions as she talks. The childminder models how to fit different coloured blocks into the shaped holes of a container. She is patient, allowing small fingers to grasp and rotate the shapes independently. She does not rush or urge children to move onto to the next shape. She gently shows children how to turn the block around so that it will fit. Children are

delighted with their achievement as they finally push the shape into the correct hole.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder places an extremely high value on helping children to transition successfully into her setting. She completes a number of home visits before children start so that she can establish a secure bond and trust with children and their families. The childminder gives superb support for children's healthy lifestyles. She talks to parents about how to ensure children's diet is nutritionally balanced and healthy. She has recently made plans to incorporate tooth brushing routines into her practice to ease parents' busy schedules at home. Children benefit from regular walks into the local community. The childminder takes children to one of the local parks everyday and ensures children have physical exercise and fresh air.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are supported to make the best possible progress. Certain areas of their learning are higher than those typically expected for their age, including their listening, attention and understanding. This prepares children well for their eventual move to school. Babies are happy, cheerful explorers. They show high levels of concentration as they play and explore the environment around them.
