p.2

Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder is incredibly conscientious. She is very passionate about her role and is extremely eager to continually develop her expertise, as well her assistant's. She carefully evaluates their ongoing practice and professional development, and targets specific areas to develop. She has gained high level skills and expertise, such as through personal reading and research, which she uses to maintain outstanding levels of care and teaching. The childminder keenly seeks the views of others, such as children and parents to help her evaluate the quality of the setting. She actively acts on advice to make changes as needed. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is highly vigilant and clearly understands her duty to keep children safe. She and her assistant confidently know how to recognise and report any signs that indicate a child may be at risk of harm.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder knows what children can do exceedingly well and is highly responsive to their individual needs. She and her assistant teach expertly, adapting activities skilfully to meet the needs and interests of every child. For instance, they skilfully use different questioning for children of different ages while they play to extend each child's language and thinking skills further. Partnerships with parents are exceedingly strong. The childminder goes above and beyond to involve parents in children's learning experiences to help parents know how they can support children's ongoing development at home. For instance, she completes home visits to model behaviour management strategies to parents to ensure a highly consistent approach to supporting children's care and development. The childminder provides children with many opportunities to develop their mathematical skills. However, she recognises that some aspects of her planning for

mathematical development could be enhanced.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children are highly motivated to explore in a very welcoming, extremely stimulating environment. All children are very independent and learn to use equipment skilfully for their age. For example, they expertly use a toy fishing rod while exploring in the water. They behave very responsibly and develop high levels of self-esteem, whilst learning how to manage risks, for example, when using simple tools with excellent control. The childminder aims for the highest standards of care, such as seeking guidance from external agencies, to ensure exemplary hygiene practices and children's welfare.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make excellent progress from their starting points and are extremely well prepared for their next steps in learning and school. For example, they develop a keenness for writing, relish creating drawings and give meanings to marks they make. Children express themselves very clearly, listen attentively and use resources responsibly.
