Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. Staff demonstrate a good awareness of safeguarding and wider child protection issues. They are secure in their knowledge of how to identify and report concerns to protect children from harm. Policies and procedures are in place to help keep children safe, including procedures for the use of mobile phones. Risk assessments and daily checks of the environment help to ensure a good standard of hygiene. Robust procedures are implemented to verify the ongoing suitability of staff. Staff have regular meetings with the provider to identify where they can improve further. They have access to training which enables them to build on their knowledge and skills. The provider monitors children's progress to identify any gaps in learning and provide additional support where needed.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff know the children well. They regularly observe children and assess their individual progress to help close gaps in their learning. They encourage parents to share information about what children have been doing at home to further support their planning. Staff provide a variety of interesting and stimulating activities to support individual children's learning needs. Children develop their imaginations well. Staff play alongside the children, introducing new vocabulary to describe what they are doing to make and serve hot food and drinks, in the role-play area. Children enthusiastically make coloured dough and are supported to use mathematical language to learn about quantities and measurements. Staff promote children's cooperation and social skills during activities, such as a shopping game. Children eagerly join in song time; they count the number of speckled frogs and enjoy doing the actions.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and settled. They form strong relationships with staff and build friendships with other children. They learn the importance of healthy practices, such as washing their hands at appropriate times. Children enjoy sitting together and socialising during snack time, pouring their own drinks and spreading and cutting their bread. They are excited by the learning environment and explore this well. They have regular opportunities to exercise and play outside in the fresh air. Children share toys and learn to take turns. They have high levels of self-esteem and confidence. Staff praise them regularly and value their achievements. Children use good manners and listen to instructions well, particularly when preparing for outdoor play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children progress well from their individual starting points. They are encouraged to make decisions and develop independence. Children choose what they want to play with and help tidy away when asked by staff. They recognise their names as they self-register at the beginning of the session. Children use a wide range of vocabulary to imaginatively describe what they are doing, such as writing and posting their letters. They confidently learn key skills in readiness for their eventual move to school. Systems are in place to support children who speak English as an additional language and to help them to develop a good level of English.
