and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home has accepted one new admission since the last inspection. When young people have moved on, their transition has been well planned and co-ordinated. Staff now have regular supervision. This increase in supervision offers staff more opportunity to reflect on their practice. There is good managerial oversight in place to ensure that staff complete mandatory training within the expected timescales. Young people continue to have positive experiences to help enrich their lives. They are also continuing to make good academic progress through maintaining good school Inspection report children’s home: SC476249 2 attendance. Young people’s safety remains a priority. Staff ensure that they make swift referrals for all safeguarding incidents to the relevant professionals. This allows for collaborative working with other professionals to manage and reduce risks. responded well to these incidents and worked closely with other agencies to protect young people from harm. Key-working sessions have a clear focus on young people’s specific needs, including, when required, covering sensitive topics such as healthy relationships and personal hygiene. Staff support young people to develop social skills and relationships, and to enjoy healthy living. Bedroom door alarms continue to be used to provide additional security to the home. However, current risk assessments surrounding this practice are not actively reviewed to consider young people’s individual needs.

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the differences made to the lives of children and young people. They watched how professional staff work with children and young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care provided. Wherever possible, they talked to children and young people and their families. In addition, the inspectors have tried to understand what the children’s home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people whom it is trying to help, protect and look after.
