her an exceptional role model for children. n The childminder promotes children's communication and language skills extremely effectively. She carefully observes children's exploration and expertly identifies the right moment to comment or ask questions. This helps children to acquire a rich vocabulary in the context of experiences that absorb their deepest attention and interest. n The childminder is highly vigilant in identifying and minimising risks to children's safety. This is demonstrated when she learnt about the risks to children if they swallow button-cell batteries. The childminder removes toys and equipment that use these batteries and alerts parents to the danger.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder reviews and continuously strives to improve her teaching. For example, she is researching the differences between how girls and boys play and learn. She intends to use her enhanced knowledge to plan activities and routines that engage all children even more deeply in their learning. In addition, the childminder actively participates in a childminder group. Members support and challenge each other to develop and extend their professional skills and knowledge. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder demonstrates an excellent understanding of safeguarding requirements and local child protection procedures. She rigorously follows robust policies and procedures that help her to keep children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder pinpoints precisely what children are ready to learn next. She expertly identifies in-the-moment opportunities to challenge them. For example, toddlers watched with obvious fascination when the childminder posted small toys into a long tube that had one open end. They eagerly investigated where the toys had gone. They demonstrated a deep involvement as they discovered how to make the toys come out again. Children thoughtfully worked out why they could not post the toys into the closed end of the tube. Throughout the activity, the childminder offered gentle encouragement that helped to extend what children know and remember. She patiently allows them time to experiment. This helps children to become successful and enthusiastic learners.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder demonstrates a superb understanding of how children learn. This is exemplified really well by her informed choice and presentation of toys and other resources. The childminder shares information extremely effectively with everyone involved in promoting individual children's development and welfare. This effectively helps to ensure continuity in children's progress and well-being. The childminder teaches children to make informed choices about their diet and health. For example, children learnt how many miles the food they ate had travelled. They know that they can grow some fruit and vegetables in the garden. The childminder is unfailingly friendly and caring. Children copy her and learn to be polite and kind to other people.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence to prepare them extremely well to start school. They develop independence and self-assurance, and demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding for their age. Children know the words and actions to many songs and nursery rhymes and join in with increasing confidence. Pre-school children begin to correctly form written letters and numerals. Children of all ages count and use numbers as part of activities and daily routines. For example, they prepare the table for lunch and decide how many plates they will need. Children develop independence in matters of personal hygiene, such as cleaning their teeth after meals.
