Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child in her care. She supervises children extremely well. Children play in a safe and secure home, indoors and outdoors, and are well supervised when on outings. The childminder has positive working relationships with parents and professionals, to meet children's needs. Parents state that their children receive high- quality care and learning opportunities. They comment on the good progress their children make. The childminder forms links with other settings and shares information to support children's learning and promote continuity in approach.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is a well-qualified, experienced practitioner and has a firm knowledge of how children learn. Children enjoy pretend play and actively involve the childminder in their self-chosen activities. She uses these opportunities to help extend children's learning. For example, she uses gestures, introduces words, talks to children about what they are doing and models different ways of using resources. For instance, when toddlers are building with blocks, she encourages them to learn about different aspects of mathematics, such as counting, saying number names and comparing size. The childminder works closely with parents. The regular exchange of information helps to keep parents informed about their child's development and ways to extend learning at home.
p.3

They are highly motivated to learn new things and demonstrate high levels of emotional well-being. The childminder is an excellent role model for children. She is calm and polite, and she uses all opportunities to help children manage their feelings and boost their confidence and self-esteem. The childminder provides opportunities for children to further develop their excellent self-care needs and to learn how to make healthy choices extremely well. Children show extremely high levels of care and concern towards one another and talk confidently to the childminder and visitors. They comment excitedly on photographs displayed on the wall. They make excellent links to their previous learning and ask questions about older children who have recently moved on to school.
p.3
