Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Staff are highly responsive to children's needs. They provide a range of high-quality activities and learning experiences, which are tailored to children's interests and individual level of development exceptionally well. Staff develop children's mathematical understanding exceedingly well from a young age. For example, babies delighted in counting dinosaurs during a sensory activity and older children were engrossed as they learned about clocks and skilfully demonstrated their understanding of time. Staff use extremely skilful questioning to extend children's learning, encourage problem solving and critical thinking.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children clearly demonstrate that they feel happy and relaxed in this homely nursery. They have developed extremely secure attachments to the staff. Children learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles. For example, they discuss with staff the effects of exercise on the body and comment that exercise 'makes your heart beat faster'. Children show high levels of independence as they confidently dress themselves for outdoor play. However, staff recognise the need to create more opportunities to extend children's independence skills during planned activities. Staff praise children constantly throughout the day for their achievements. This boosts children's self-esteem and results in them displaying extremely high levels of confidence to have a go and try new things.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make excellent progress based on their starting points. Children of all ages show high levels of focus, excitement and engagement as they play. Babies are inquisitive and curious and have time to explore during sensory play. Toddlers show outstanding listening and attention skills for their age and stay engaged for extended periods during a cooking activity. Older children develop excellent early literacy skills as they expertly rhyme words together and skilfully write their names. Children are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their learning and their move on to school.
