The childminder makes extremely accurate assessments of children's development that provide her with a clear focus for supporting their ongoing learning. She expertly allows children to take the lead in their play, and then extends their learning very skilfully as she plays alongside them. For example, as older children eagerly explore how different toys move down a slope, she seizes the opportunity to encourage them to estimate distances. They devise ways of measuring, make comparisons and develop their early mathematical skills exceptionally well. Younger children concentrate extremely hard to discover objects among coloured grains of rice and begin to count them out. They develop the small muscles in their hands, extending their physical skills and show high levels of curiosity.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children thrive in the dedicated childminder's care, and develop a secure sense of self- awareness. They become highly independent and resourceful. For example, even the younger children work out how to successfully get dressed for outdoor play, showing great perseverance and determination. Children benefit enormously from many exciting opportunities for daily fresh air and exercise. They become very proficient and confident in their physical development. The childminder deepens children's understanding of the wider world through a rich range of resources that positively reflect other cultures. She recognises the need to provide a wider range of experiences for children to develop a greater understanding of their local community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
