Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the procedures to follow in the event of a child protection concern. She knows the signs and symptoms of abuse and is able to identify children that may be at risk of harm. The childminder maintains good standards of safety in her home and on outings in order to keep children secure and help them to learn about staying safe. The childminder uses regular discussions and an electronic programme to share information with parents about their children's progress and development. She has a good relationship with parents, who state that they would highly recommend the childminder. The childminder occasionally works with her husband who is an assistant. She reflects on her practice to identify where further improvements can be made.

Children count, weigh and measure ingredients and use their hands to mix and knead the dough. The childminder encourages children to ask questions and engages in lovely, meaningful conversations with them. The childminder provides children with a good range of healthy and balanced meals and snacks, cooked fresh each day. Children also enjoy outdoor play and trips to local parks where they can play on more-challenging equipment to develop their physical skills. While on outings, the childminder teaches children how to keep themselves safe and talks to them about road safety and stranger danger. Children's behaviour is good and the childminder is a positive role model. She is calm, kind and teaches children good manners and how to share and take turns. The childminder regularly praises children, which promotes their emotional well-being effectively.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children progress well from their starting points. They gain the skills they need to help them with the next stage in their learning and their eventual move on to school. Children acquire strong foundations in literacy and mathematics. They consistently count, learn about weights and measurements, and read recipe books. Children learn how to be independent. They find their coats and boots and put them on before going out to play. Children use their imaginations as they play and develop roles, making links with their own experiences.
