Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The childminder attends relevant training and has a thorough understanding of current child protection issues. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has good partnerships with local childminders. For example, they share good practice ideas, and these help to enhance her skills and ideas. She monitors her practice well and considers ways to constantly improve the experiences of children in her care. For instance, she has made resources more accessible, helping children to make their choices and develop their independence. The childminder uses her knowledge and skills to provide good-quality learning experiences and opportunities that support children's good progress. She assesses children's progress successfully and uses this information to identify what children know, how they learn and what their interests are. Her successful teaching methods help her to close any gaps in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children very well and plans activities that are enjoyable and help each child to make good progress. The children are excited to learn. The childminder relates learning to enjoyable experiences. For example, she adds food colouring to play dough, which children enjoy moulding. Children talk excitedly about the shapes they make and gain an understanding of shape, measurement and space. The childminder uses the activity to help children to think about colours and shapes. Children laugh together as they make differently shaped biscuits.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children are exceptionally secure in the care of the childminder and she has developed very strong bonds with them. The childminder is highly sensitive to the needs of the children and meets these extremely well. The childminder speaks in a kind and respectful way to all the children in her care. She is an excellent role model and children learn quickly from her positive care. Children are very good friends with each other and behave exceptionally well. They thoroughly understand the importance of listening to adults and each other, and develop high levels of respect for themselves and each other.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for the move on to their next stage in learning, including school. They develop good skills in language and communication. For example, they enjoy listening to stories and join in with familiar parts of the story. They confidently tell the childminder when they are ready to eat and talk about the foods they are eating.
