Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder is highly experienced. She is a very professional and reflective practitioner. The childminder evaluates her teaching and children's learning exceptionally well. For example, she knows that older children need help, to give younger children time to answer questions. The childminder constantly seeks to enrich the already excellent experiences provided for children. She has plans to enhance the garden, to give children the choice to play safely outdoors in all weathers. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder attends regular training in child protection, to enhance her first-rate knowledge and skills. She has an in-depth understanding of the signs that show a child may be at risk of harm from extreme views and behaviours. The childminder makes sure her assistant maintains their first-aid qualification.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The quality of teaching is exceptional. The childminder constantly changes the activities and wonderful range of play resources, to reflect children's interests. As a result, children become deeply engrossed in their learning. For example, children concentrate exceptionally well while decorating cards to celebrate the new year. The childminder uses this opportunity to enhance children's learning about colour, shape and numbers. The childminder constantly models language during play. She explains what it is happening and asks lots of questions. Consequently, children learn to think for themselves and build upon their growing vocabulary. The childminder develops excellent relationships with parents. Together they observe and assess children's learning. The childminder uses the information gathered to plan highly challenging activities and experiences.

For example, children know they must hold the hands of another child, known as their 'buddy', while walking home from school. Children have high levels of confidence in social situations. They eagerly talk to visitors to the setting, sharing their likes, dislikes and interests. The childminder builds excellent relationships with children. She engages exceptionally well with children and constantly praises their achievements. As a result, children persevere and are eager to try new experiences. Children are helped to learn and to reflect upon the differences between themselves and others. For example, children enjoy dressing up in traditional clothes, brought by the childminder while on holiday in Vietnam.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their learning and for school, when the time comes. They enjoy taking part in conversations, rapidly increasing their communication skills. For example, children describe jelly as 'wibbly wobbly'. They confidently explore their feelings as they explain that they like ice cream and add 'but it is cold to eat'. Children develop excellent self-care skills. They meticulously wash their own hands after using the toilet. Children show excellent physical skills as they thread laces through small holes in plastic shapes. They use their imagination as they decide to use the lace as a skipping rope. Children take delight in dressing up as a doctor.
