Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of safeguarding practice. She is aware of the action to take if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder regularly develops her knowledge through further training. For example, she attended a course about observing and assessing children's learning. This helps her plan for next steps. The childminder has made positive improvements since the last inspection. This is evident in the way she takes children to the local park to explore the natural resources and their textures. The childminder considers the views of parents, children and others to continuously improve her service. Parents are delighted with the good progress their children make and appreciate the reliable service they receive from this attentive childminder. The childminder works well with the local school to help children receive the appropriate support they need.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gains relevant information from parents about each child in her care. She observes children in play and reflects on their interests to help them remain motivated to learn. The childminder plays with the children and encourages them to choose their favourite toys. Children keenly take part in play. They love to investigate resources, such as a spinning top and rewinding toys, to find out how things work. Children explore different coloured paints and create their favourite pictures. The childminder talks to children as they play and supports their language development effectively. Children learn new songs and words.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder talks to children in a calm manner and helps them understand right from wrong actions. She shares her behaviour procedures with parents and their children so that they know what is expected. Children have positive attitudes to learning and are emotionally secure. The childminder helps children to adopt healthy eating habits. For example, they enjoy healthy snacks and can access water when they need it. The childminder encourages children to tidy up resources after play and to help themselves to snacks. Children enjoy ride-on toys and are learning to be aware of space around them. The childminder checks her home and resources to keep children safe.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children thoroughly enjoy their time with the childminder. Overall, children achieve well and gaps are closing. Children are calm and listen to instructions. They learn to handle resources safely and recognise colours. Children have access to suitable writing materials to develop their early writing skills. They like books about means of transport and can show their favourite pictures to the childminder.
