Staff listen, encourage and photograph the children's achievements. This provides valuable opportunities for children to recall and extend their ideas. Children use their increasing mathematical knowledge. For example, they explore the size of the paper they will need to wrap a parcel. They show increasing hand-to-eye coordination as they use scissors to cut the paper, and fold and stick it around the parcels. They demonstrate great concentration and staff skilfully ask questions, encouraging them to think and solve problems. Children have easy access to mark-making resources and books, although
