Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder completes regular training, including first aid and safeguarding. The childminder knows the possible signs of abuse and understands wider issues of child protection. Clear policies underpin her good practice and these are shared with parents. The childminder completes risk assessments to ensure that her home is safe and fit for purpose. The childminder works well to evaluate her practice and makes effective changes that benefit the children. For example, she has reorganised the learning space so that children engage in activities more effectively. Children's overall development is monitored well. The childminder maintains an overview of children's progress, which helps her to identify any gaps in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is playful in her interactions with children. For example, children giggle with excitement as the childminder plays hide and seek with them. The childminder is a good role model and provides stimulating learning experiences that engage children effectively. For example, children are wonderfully expressive in their movements as they use coloured streamers while singing their favourite songs. Children are beginning to understand how to manage risk in their play. For example, children are taught how to use a tape measure correctly so that they do not hurt their hands. Children are keen to measure each other and the childminder supports children's understanding of mathematical concepts very well. The childminder observes children as they play and records details of their learning. Children have a learning journal, which includes photographs of them engaged in activities and she shares this with parents.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model and provides clear guidance to children about her expectations. She consistently praises and encourages them, which promotes their emotional well-being. Children show that they have good self-esteem and quickly form secure attachments with the childminder. Children are supported well in developing their independence and social skills, including sharing and taking turns. The childminder works closely with parents to develop children's understanding of healthy eating. Children are provided with daily opportunities to be active, contributing to their good physical health. For instance, children walk to the local school and visit the park. Furthermore, the childminder uses these opportunities to teach children about road safety.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in relation to their starting points. They express themselves well and enjoy the company of others. For example, children enjoy talking to visitors and quickly involve them in their play. Children are confident and self-assured. They are eager to participate and this positive attitude creates a secure foundation for future learning.
