She has employed an assistant who does not have sufficient English to support children's well-being or to promote their learning, and who does not have sufficient knowledge to fulfil their role and responsibilities. individual learning and developmental needs of children or plan an appropriate programme of activities to enable them to achieve positive outcomes.
p.4
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The childminder does not have sufficient understanding of observation, planning, and assessment to help children achieve and make appropriate progress. She does not gather enough information from parents to help her identify children's starting points. The childminder does not understand children's learning styles, to shape learning experiences that reflect their interests. The childminder does not ensure that assistants working with children are supported in their role to help ensure children can access enjoyable learning experiences. The childminder speaks children's home language to help them understand. She interacts positively with children and support their emotional well-being.
p.4
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
The significant weaknesses in the safeguarding and teaching mean that children's safety and well-being is not assured. The childminder does not support children to develop their social skills and to be confident. She organises resources effectively, which supports children's independence. The childminder explains to children what is going to happen next, for example, explaining when it is snack time so they feel secure. She forms positive relationships with children and gives them some choices. For instance, asking if they would like pear or banana for snack. The childminder organises her home to allow children to move about easily. She demonstrates adequate hygiene skills and promotes children's health.
p.4
Outcomes for children are inadequate
Children do not achieve their full potential. They are not eager to learn, to be curious and investigate. Although children have a basic understanding of English and they are not confident to communicate their needs. Children are not eager to play and show limited interest in activities.
