Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder provides a safe environment indoors and outside. She assesses potential risks and she has plans to help to minimise them. For example, she organises her resources to ensure that younger children cannot access items, which may pose a risk, such as small objects. The childminder keeps her knowledge of child protection up to date. She is aware of the signs that may indicate that children's welfare or safety may be at risk. She fully understands the procedures to follow if concerns arise.

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder closely observes children and she assesses their development. She shares regular updates with parents. She has systems that help her to identify and monitor gaps in progress. The childminder provides activities that children enjoy. For instance, children become engrossed as they explore paint frozen into ice cubes. They enjoy moving the cubes around on paper until they melt and the colours begin to mix. The childminder supports their learning effectively. For instance, she talks to children about what is happening and challenges them to investigate and find out how to create more colours. Children confidently express their own ideas. For instance, they decide to build a tower using the ice cubes. This helps children to develop their physical skills and coordination. The childminder provides children with a box of magnets and a mixture of magnetic and non-magnetic items. Children respond with enthusiasm and they

demonstrate a strong desire to explore the properties of each item. They talk to the childminder about their findings. The childminder offers children explanations. This helps to build on their vocabulary and enhances their understanding of how things work.

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder provides children with superb opportunities to enhance their excellent understanding of diversity. For example, she carefully plans outings to widen children's knowledge of differences and similarities between themselves and others. The superb environment and resources also support this further. For instance, the childminder provides a vast range of toy foods from different countries, posters, various books, small-world figures and clothes. The childminder provides many excellent opportunities to build on children's exceptional independence skills. For instance, under close supervision, two-year-old children chop fruits at snack time and they confidently wash and dry their hands at relevant times. This also supports their excellent understanding of healthy lifestyles.
