Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts with children in a positive manner. She provides activities incorporating children's interests that engage children effectively. The childminder understands that children learn through play. She encourages language and communication well. For example, children choose their own songs to sing and they recite repetitive refrains excitedly. The childminder introduces mathematical vocabulary, such as 'taller' and 'biggest'. Number sequencing opportunities are taken, for example, when children count the blocks in the towers they build and count backwards for the rocket they make to lift off. The childminder accurately assesses children's progress. She uses information gathered from parents to inform her baseline of their starting points.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Hygiene routines are adhered to. For example, children wash their hands before meals and after playing outside, and they clean their teeth after lunch. The childminder provides opportunities for children to learn about places in the community. Children talk about local buildings and use blocks to build the shape of a church. Children are given time to develop their independence skills, for instance when they put on their coats or choose their own snacks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning and development from their starting points. They display positive attitudes and are motivated and engaged in activities provided.
