Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of the procedures to follow should she have concerns for children's safety. She keeps up to date with current safeguarding guidance and implements effective procedures to help protect children from harm. The childminder conducts regular and thorough checks on her home to eliminate risks. She monitors her practice well and has addressed the recommendations made at her previous inspection. For example, she now works closely with parents and exchanges information with them about their children's ongoing development and changing interests.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a good range of interesting and challenging activities that take account of children's next steps in learning, overall. Children are creative and play imaginatively with a wide range of materials. For instance, they used colourful paper to make rainbows and dough to make flowers. They take a great deal of pride in their achievements and are eager to show and talk about their work and creations. The childminder extended their learning further, such as, she asked them to think about how they can shape the dough and encouraged them to feel the textures and identify colours. The childminder supports children effectively to help them develop their literacy skills. For example, she encourages older children to write their name and younger children to practise their early mark making skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children arrive happy and settle quickly into play. The childminder is affectionate and attentive to children's individual needs. She actively praises children as they learn new skills and demonstrate good manners. Children are independent and concentrate well. They eagerly do things for themselves, such as helping to tidy up and make choices, as well as initiate their own play. The childminder effectively helps children to develop their confidence in social situations and gain awareness of the world around them. For example, children enjoy regular visits to local parks and playgroups. Children adopt good hygiene routines and enjoy healthy meals and regular fresh air.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain useful skills for their future learning, including for when they move on to school. They show enthusiasm in all their activities and are eager to learn. Children learn how to communicate well, initiate conversations and are confident to express their feelings about things they like. Toddlers demonstrate a strong willingness to explore their surroundings and eagerly join in with activities.
