Effectiveness of leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder regularly updates her safeguarding knowledge. She fully understands her responsibilities to protect children in her care. There is a wide range of policies and procedures in place, which underpins her good practice. The childminder effectively reviews the provision and ways in which the setting can improve children's outcomes. For example, she has recently enhanced learning experiences, to help build on children's understanding of the natural world. The childminder works closely with specialist professionals, as and when necessary, to help support children. This promotes a collaborative approach to meet the individual needs of children. The childminder gathers feedback from parents to help drive continual improvements. Parents are happy with the service and say that their children are 'well cared for'.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder follows children's interests as they play. She provides a range of heuristic resources that can be used in different ways. This helps to support children to use their imaginations. The childminder is a good role model. She sits alongside children and joins in their activities. She seizes these opportunities to extend their learning. For example, babies are encouraged to bang objects together. They develop physical coordination and concentration as they complete this age-appropriate task. The childminder regularly evaluates children's learning and monitors their progress. She shares children's achievements with parents, to keep them informed of their ongoing progress.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder is kind and nurturing. She carefully monitors the care of babies to ensure that their welfare and emotional needs are routinely met. The childminder makes effective use of opportunities to celebrate diversity. She reflects on children's individuality and cultures within her practice. Children enjoy daily exercise and outdoor play. For example, they visit parks and feed ducks at local ponds. This helps to support their physical well-being. The childminder helps children to learn how to manage their personal safety. For example, she teaches children about road safety and traffic when they walk within the community.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Babies and young children happily explore the welcoming environment. They investigate their senses and express themselves well. Children pick up objects of interest and press buttons on mechanical toys. This helps to support their hand-to-eye coordination effectively. Children gain skills that prepare them well for their next stage in learning.
