Children develop their physical skills when they move around the garden and listen to staff who give them instructions, such as 'stop', 'get ready' and 'go'.

Children talk confidently and develop positive relationships with others. Staff encourage children to be independent. They remind them to wash their cups and plates after snack time and to fetch a tissue to wipe their nose. Children have a strong sense of belonging in the pre- school. Staff display pictures of children's family members. This encourages children to talk about the lives of people who are familiar to them. Children demonstrate an awareness of the routine of the day. When staff shake a tambourine, children say that it is 'tidy up time'.
