Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of how to protect children's welfare and knows how to report any concerns and allegations. She knows the possible signs of which to be aware. The childminder reviews regularly the effectiveness of the provision along with the co-childminder. They identify how they can make further improvements. For example, parents are now given ideas to continue their child's learning at home. The childminder implements robust risk assessments to help promote children's safety. The childminder keeps her knowledge and skills up to date to benefit children. She attends training and carries out independent research to gain further ideas to support her practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes accurate observations of children's skills and achievements. She plans activities based around children's interests. For example, children thoroughly enjoy expressing themselves as they make dinosaur pictures using different shapes. The childminder supports children's mathematical development well. For instance, she supports children to recognise numbers and practise counting as they draw a hopscotch pattern on the ground using chalks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder encourages children to be independent. For example, children tidy up the toys after play and take care of their own self-care needs. Children enjoy being with each other. They have developed strong bonds and show good social skills. For instance, children ask excitedly when their friends will arrive for breakfast. Children behave well, and the childminder supports children effectively to share and take turns. Children develop good physical skills. They kick a large ball confidently and negotiate space while playing a game of football.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop confidence and the skills needed for further learning and their eventual move on to school. Children make good progress, including those children who are learning English as an additional language. Children develop good early literacy skills. They practise writing their names, forming recognisable letters. Children are very imaginative and enjoy pretending to take on different roles during pretend play.
