The provision is outstanding
n The childminder works in excellent partnership with his co-childminder and demonstrates unquestionable commitment to driving improvement and securing excellent outcomes for children's care, learning and development. n Children have an extremely nurturing settling-in experience which gives them time to get to know the childminder and build a very close bond with him. The childminder establishes very close partnerships with families and takes time to find out the finer details of children's likes, dislikes and routines. This helps to make sure that children's individual needs are expertly met. n The childminder provides an exceptionally welcoming, rich, well-resourced and stimulating space for children to learn through play. Children benefit from a particularly impressive array of opportunities to explore the outdoors. n The childminder purposefully involves parents in children's learning. For example, he

provides them with many ideas, such as craft activities, to help to inspire them to support children's development even further at home. n The childminder completes thorough risk assessments of the premises, ensuring the safety of children is top priority. With the childminder's skilful guidance, children learn to be mindful of risks. For example, they instinctively find a tea towel and use this to protect their hands when opening the pretend oven.

Safeguarding is effective. Comprehensive policies and procedures, including those for child protection, help to ensure the childminder has an excellent understanding of how to keep children safe and secure. The childminder also completes wider safeguarding training which helps him to know exactly what action to take if he is concerned for the welfare of a child. The childminder's rigorous evaluation includes input from his co- childminder, parents and children, and helps to inform the ambitious plans for improvement. For example, the childminder intends to secure further professional development opportunities, such as training courses, to build on the already outstanding learning experiences for children. Links with Reception teachers are extremely effective. The childminder draws on their expertise to enrich activities to support children's readiness for school and often shares examples of his own practice to also benefit their
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder makes rigorous and accurate assessments of children's learning. This information is used extremely well to plan rich, challenging and imaginative experiences that help children to make excellent progress. For example, when parents explain that their children are due to visit an optician, the childminder provides a richly resourced area for children to try on glasses and pretend to conduct eye examinations. This helps children to make excellent connections with their real-life experiences while engaging in imaginative play. Children delight in investigating space, shapes and measures through an array of interesting practical tasks. The childminder challenges them to try to work out why solid blocks of ice will not fit in a bottle. This inspires children's deeper thinking and they become engrossed in the task of breaking up the ice to make it fit.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Young children benefit highly from warm and nurturing interactions. This helps them to settle rapidly and feel great reassurance when they are tired or unsettled. Children's independence and free choice are promoted exceptionally well. For instance, the childminder has recently overhauled the arrangement of toys and books and made these even more inviting and easier for children to select for themselves. Children are actively encouraged to take manageable risks in their play, such as learning how to carry glass bowls safely during cooking activities. The childminder's meaningful praise and highly positive role modelling help children to have the highest regard for the feelings of others.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children very successfully develop the skills needed to stand them in excellent stead for continuing their learning once they move on to school. They develop a particularly keen interest in sharing books and show that their vocabulary is increasing rapidly. Children learn about cultures and festivals, and delight in meeting new people in their local community. They are extremely confident and often make progress above expectations for their age. Outcomes for children's health are excellent. They spend a vast amount of time being physically active and have plenty of exposure to fresh air and natural light.
