p.2

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has completed safeguarding training. She understands the procedures to follow to keep children safe and knows who to contact if she has a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder has a secure understanding of how children learn. She regularly observes, assesses and plans for the next stages in children's individual learning and development. The childminder communicates with other settings that children attend to support children's care, learning and development.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder interacts well with children. Babies show their enjoyment as they smile and babble during 'peek-a-boo' games. She encourages children to try things for themselves and is always nearby to offer reassurance and support, when required. Babies enjoy exploring. For example, they press buttons on an activity centre and move their bodies to the sounds they hear. The childminder supports babies' communication and language skills well. She names objects and sings familiar rhymes. Children learn about differences in others. For example, they look at books and play with toys which positively reflect diversity.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children are able to develop positive patterns of behaviour and develop good levels of self-esteem. The childminder provides children with praise and encouragement throughout the day. Children have good opportunities to develop healthy lifestyles. They benefit from fresh air and outdoor experiences. For example, they go for walks and make trips to the park. Babies develop their muscles as they stretch to reach toys. They use their small muscles to learn skills in holding spoons to feed themselves. The childminder ensures children have a healthy diet and their individual dietary needs are met. Babies are relaxed and secure in the childminders care. They enjoy snuggling up to have their bottle, before they rest.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

All children are able to make good progress in relation to their starting points in learning. They develop independence from an early age. For example, babies enjoy crawling and exploring toys independently. They are confident and motivated to learn. Children are quickly developing the skills they require in preparation for the next stage in their learning, including their eventual move on to nursery and school.
