The provision is good

n The childminder is passionate about providing children with high-quality care and learning experiences. She is professional, well organised and committed to the ongoing development of her childcare provision. She continually seeks ways to enhance children's opportunities and secure their continued good progress. n Children develop exceptionally positive relationships with each other. They sing and sign the actions to familiar nursery rhymes together. Younger children offer their hand for older children to draw circles on as they sing about going around the garden. Both children laugh and show that they enjoy their interactions. n Children's welfare is given the highest priority. The childminder builds effective partnerships with parents and provides excellent support for children's well-being. She secures excellent relationships with other professionals and agencies. Effectiveness of leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an exceptional knowledge of child protection policies and procedures. She has a secure understanding of risks to children's welfare, including those from a local perspective. She knows the signs that indicate children may be at risk of harm. The childminder ensures that her assistants understand the setting's safeguarding procedures and she regularly checks on their knowledge and understanding. The childminder monitors staff's performance. She provides feedback to staff, such as how to enhance the way in which they interact with children. The childminder works very closely with other settings that children attend. They share detailed information with each other about children's progress and work closely together to support children's next steps in learning.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder builds on children's enthusiasm to share books and stories. Younger children settle onto her lap and point to pictures of animals in a book. The childminder names the animals that they see and asks them to point to other animals. She challenges older children to identify the special features of a giraffe, which they consider and then give their well-thought-out response. Children read a book about opposites. They relate their learning back to the food that they ate for dinner and recognise that the potato was hot and the salad was cold. The childminder regularly checks on children's progress and monitors the plans that her assistants put in place to support children's continued learning and development. She shares information with parents about children's progress and supports them to continue children's learning at home.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children's well-being is central to all that the childminder does. She works extremely closely with children and their families to ensure children's well-being is consistently well supported. The childminder explains to children about the importance of being respectful and listening to others. Older children talk confidently about their day. Babies join in the conversation and babble. The childminder ensures that they equally have a voice and are listened to by others. The childminder and her assistant consistently implement the setting's rules and boundaries. They have high expectations for children's behaviour. They enhance children's understanding of how to behave in different situations, for example, children reflect on when they must use good manners at home. The childminder provides children with healthy food that they enjoy eating. She takes account of children's allergies and provides food that all children can eat without

p.3

Outcomes for children are good
