Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a detailed knowledge of the different signs or indicators of abuse and neglect. She provides appropriate supervision and minimises risks and hazards on the premises, to ensure children's safety. The childminder makes well-considered choices about training to enable her to focus this on meeting the needs of the children she cares for. She uses the knowledge she gains to develop her own practice and to provide appropriate support for children. She also shares this information with parents and carers so that they can provide consistent support at home.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder asks parents and carers for detailed information about their children's development on entry. She uses this information well to plan immediately for children's learning as soon as they start. The childminder shares plenty of information with parents and carers on an ongoing basis. She ensures that they are kept fully informed of their children's progress. She provides parents and carers with information about how to support their children's development at home so that there is consistent support for children's learning. The childminder interacts with children during their play to guide their learning. For example, she explains and demonstrates how to use the musical instruments. She supports children's interests as they enjoy looking at a poster and she names the objects or asks them to find certain items.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have a really friendly relationship with each other and have developed a good bond with the childminder. Older children are very kind towards younger children, for example, they get them their drink when they are getting theirs. Children behave extremely well. The childminder provides good support to help children to resolve any minor disagreements quickly. She explains what she is doing and why so that children learn about the routines and the expectations. She is very encouraging with the children as they attempt to do things by themselves. She frequently praises the children, which boosts their self-esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making good progress. They show good levels of perseverance, for example, as they manoeuvre a trolley through the small doorway into the playhouse. They are confident in their physical skills and use a slide competently. They use a range of vocabulary appropriate for their stage of development. They can make their needs known. Children are developing the skills they need in preparation for school.
