p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder works with the schools that children attend effectively. He finds out about ways he can support them in increasing their reading skills, such as having the book scheme they use at school available in his provision. Children talk about the things that they like and dislike. They talk to each other as they play and the childminder reminds them of previous activities and things they have done at school and at home. This helps to embed their learning experiences.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children know the familiar routine when they arrive at the childminder's house. They quickly start playing and are settled and content. Children talk about their learning at school and the things that they are good at, such as playing football and basketball. The childminder helps children to learn about growth and change. They are excited to see photographs of the childminder when he was the same age as them and they talk about their own families. The childminder recognises that when children have an early start to the day, they need extra nourishment. He makes sure that children have a snack and drink before they start school, so they do not become hungry before lunch time. The childminder takes children on trips, so they have fresh air and exercise. Children go to the local park after school where they can test out their physical skills and abilities.
