The provision is outstanding
n The quality of teaching is exceptional. The childminder has an excellent knowledge of how children learn. She is highly skilled at encouraging children to connect their learning to previous experiences, and build on what they already know and can do. n Children are extremely confident, motivated and independent learners. They thrive under the childminder's guidance and encouragement. The childminder plans a wide range of inspiring activities, based on her skilful observations of children. For example, children talk enthusiastically about how they gathered apples from the trees in the garden and made delicious apple crumble to take home and share with their parents. n The childminder provides a wealth of knowledge and information to parents. Parents are highly involved and frequently comment on their children's learning journals. This helps to promote children's well-being and development extremely well, as parents are

The children work harmoniously together and display high levels of respect and tolerance for others. For example, the childminder quickly spots when children may be struggling to engage and swiftly refocuses them to support their self-control effectively. n The childminder works extremely well with her co-childminder to reflect constantly on the effectiveness of their practice and how to improve through training and self- evaluation. They use this to identify more successful ways of working and children benefit from the exciting and stimulating environment they provide. Children are very well prepared for their next stage in learning.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder strives to improve and demonstrates a strong commitment to providing outstanding care and learning experiences to children. She works exceptionally well with her co-childminder to support and engage all children. For example, they have developed the outdoor space to provide a highly stimulating environment for children to explore and investigate. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough knowledge of safeguarding issues and has robust procedures for reporting any concerns. She expertly supports children's understanding of risk and ensures that she keeps children safe. For example, she reminds children about how they agreed that they need to be careful, as the grass may be slippery following an earlier activity. Following this, children keep themselves safe and remind others of the safety rules.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Children have outstanding opportunities to develop their physical skills in the childminder's garden. They climb, swing, balance on and investigate an abundance of equipment. For example, they seek challenge and chant 'forwards' and 'backwards' as they persist in independently moving themselves on the swings. The childminder uses her detailed observations and precise assessments of children to identify any gaps in their learning and to engage them through meaningful and appropriately challenging experiences. For example, she encourages children to problem solve and use cones to create their own slalom, manoeuvring their bodies and pushing heavy wheelbarrows to negotiate the course. The childminder has excellent partnerships with other settings that children attend. She uses her extensive knowledge to engage children in meaningful conversation about their pre-schools and helps them to adjust to the changes in routine.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
However, occasionally, this could be supported with more open-ended discussion.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder provides significant support for children's health and well-being. She is highly skilled at helping children to become independent and understand healthy lifestyles. She expertly uses every opportunity to remind children of the importance of good hygiene. For example, children tell her and others, without prompting, that they have remembered to wash their hands. The childminder ensures that transitions between activities are smooth. For example, she gives children torches to investigate and explore light and shadow, while they are waiting for the bathroom. The childminder regularly plans exciting trips to places of interest around the local community to enhance children's understanding of the world around them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children are extremely motivated to learn. They are confident enough to express their needs and wants, and the childminder listens to and values their contributions. Children are keen to use their excellent mathematical skills in everyday counting and enjoy identifying similarities and differences in size and shape. For example, they delight in hunting for pumpkins and squash, and talk about, count and compare them. Children thrive as they become increasingly independent and show a strong curiosity to explore. Children are exceptionally well prepared for school.
