Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
The experienced and dedicated childminder reviews and organises all areas of her practice meticulously. Children thrive as she follows exemplary practice to keep them safe and inspire their learning. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is proactive, updating her knowledge and skills regularly through training and her own research, including about child protection and wider safety issues. She is highly alert to possible dangers and has an excellent knowledge of what to do if she has concerns. The childminder strives continually to enhance her excellent provision. For example, she is shortly to attend training to update her knowledge on supporting children's early literacy skills. The childminder works highly effectively with parents. She shares extensive information about their children and involves them fully in their learning, which significantly contributes to the rapid progress children make.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder is an excellent teacher. She encourages children to think creatively and find different ways to do things. She uses language, such as 'I wonder how' and 'what if we tried', inspiring children to be curious and very confident to try new things. Children are determined to master new skills. With the childminder's encouragement, they persist and are delighted by their successes. They master balancing as they play hopscotch. They gain confidence rapidly as the childminder knows just when to challenge them further, for example, as they progress from jumping with two feet to hopping on one. She knows when to join in children's play and when to let them play by themselves. She weaves mathematics throughout all activities and children make impressive progress. She reads to the children every day, so they learn to love books. They snuggle up eagerly to listen and join in. They look forward to library visits and choosing their own
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder is extremely attentive and caring. She nurtures each child's individuality, so they feel valued and secure. Children flourish as they learn to do things for themselves and gain great confidence in their own abilities. Children develop a strong understanding of how to keep themselves safe. The childminder helps them recognise and manage small risks. For example, when a child pretends the toy cooker is a kennel and tries to climb in, she helps them realise that under the table is a safer place as it will not topple over. The childminder is highly skilled at anticipating children's needs yet gives them the freedom to make choices and follow their own ideas. Children of all ages thoroughly enjoy their learning.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children are very well prepared for their future learning. They are highly confident and independent. They play exceptionally well together. They solve problems, such as how to make a bridge, and play highly imaginatively, making up complex story lines and using extensive vocabulary. Children count, measure, share, add and subtract with real purpose, for example, working out how many breadsticks each can have or how many apples to take away to make the scales balance.
