Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The childminder reflects regularly on her practice and evaluates her setting well. For example, she changes toys according to the children's interests. The childminder has completed training to build on her professional knowledge. For example, she has improved her understanding of how children develop their speech and language skills. She has improved her practice and now repeats back and models words to support language in younger children. The childminder is aware of what to look out for if she has a concern about a child's welfare and has robust policies and procedures to follow. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has good partnerships with other professionals and staff at schools that children attend. She works well with them to prepare children for school. For example, they work together to improve children's independence skills in dressing themselves.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a variety of interesting resources, such as electronic toys with different buttons to help children to understand how some things work. She knows children well and plans activities that interest them. This is demonstrated when the chilminder plays children's favourite music to encourage them to dance and move. Children explore rhymes and join in with action songs. They are motivated to learn. Children have lots of opportunities to learn about the natural world. For example, they go bug hunting, collect autumn leaves and explore the woods and parks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model. She meets the needs of children in her care effectively and successfully promotes caring and kind behaviour. The childminder supports children's emotional development well. She teaches children how to manage their personal risk and safety well. For example, she teaches children how to cross a road safely and younger children know to hold an adult's hand when in a car park. The childminder promotes healthy living well. She teaches children about the importance of healthy eating and how food helps to develop strong muscles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn the skills they need to help them with their future learning. For example, they learn to share, take turns and begin to manage small tasks on their own. Children enjoy a range of visits and experiences. For example, they visit parks, other childminding groups, playgroups and the library. Children learn about the importance of technology, such as when using toys with buttons. They learn good communication skills. All children make good progress from their starting points.
