The provision is good
n The childminder recognises the importance of working in partnership and makes contact with other providers to ensure children receive continuity of care when they attend more than one setting. n The childminder is reflective and uses training and mentoring well to ensure that children are continually offered a high quality environment and experience. She has carefully trained and assessed her assistant to work alongside children before giving her direct responsibilities to support children's learning independently. n All children make at least good progress from their starting points. The childminder uses accurate monitoring and assessment, and careful planning, to support individuals to extend their learning and development. n Children have secure attachments with the childminder, which foster their feelings of safety and security. Consequently, they are confident and happy in her home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
n The childminder does not consistently encourage parents to contribute fully to children's educational learning and development.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of her responsibility to protect children. She recognises a wide range of signs that may mean a child is at risk and knows what actions to take to keep them safe. She has robust practices in place in relation to the use of mobile phones. The childminder recognises the value of reflective practice and takes on board the views of parents and co-workers to enhance the quality of her service further. She has introduced observations with co- workers to fine tune the quality of interactions children receive. The childminder fosters positive relationships with parents. She provides regular updates for parents to keep them abreast of children's daily experiences. Parents value the personal care offered based on children's individual routines and preferences.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The environment is interestingly set out to provide a stimulating range of experiences designed to capture children's interests. Consequently, children are motivated and enthusiastic in their explorations and play. Older children thoroughly enjoy working together to move the programmable vehicle around the house. Younger children delight as they explore toy farm vehicles and animals that make noises. The childminder skilfully interacts with demonstrations and clear explanations to help children build their repertoire of skills. Children learn how to hold pencils as they draw pictures. Older children sort different fruit, while younger ones learn to match them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident and independent. Timely reminders from the childminder strongly support children to learn to care for one another and the available resources. Children enthusiastically tidy away the resources and match the correct items to the boxes, and know to put the lids on pens to stop them going dry. The childminder helps children to achieve a healthy lifestyle. For example, they choose from a wide range of fruit at snack time, they know when to wash their hands and they enjoy regular walks in the local area.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for their next stage of learning and eventual move to school. Even the youngest children show good levels of concentration and patiently take turns when playing games together. Children listen well and are confident communicators. All children enjoy stories and independently look at books. Older children enjoy telling the story to their friends and younger ones know how to turn pages correctly. Children count, match colours and confidently announce that the clothes are too big for their dolls.
