The provision is good
n Children are extremely happy, secure and settled in their environment. They demonstrate high levels of confidence and have a wonderful relationship with the childminder. n Children are incredibly independent and are given a great deal of choice in what they do. They are encouraged to offer ideas and suggestions throughout the day and the childminder responds to them with a wonderfully warm and respectful manner. The children are extremely well prepared for their next stage of learning. n The childminder completes thorough risk assessments and ensures the safety of the children is her highest priority. She uses robust safeguarding procedures and teaches the children how to keep themselves safe and healthy. n The childminder provides children with a wide range of exciting activities and experiences. She encourages them to explore in their own ways, supporting their learning at all times.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
n The childminder's self-evaluation does not focus as sharply as possible on how to continually improve the quality of teaching. n Although the childminder involves parents in their child's learning and development, she misses opportunities to encourage them to contribute actively to continuing children's learning at home and sharing in the assessment process.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent knowledge on child protection and is extremely vigilant in keeping children safe. She completes regular safeguarding training, is confident in her knowledge of the signs of abuse and knows how to report possible concerns. The childminder gathers relevant information from parents when children first start to help identify their children's individual needs, routines and care preferences. The parents speak incredibly highly of the childminder and feel their children make a great deal of progress while in her care. The childminder monitors children's progress regularly. This helps her to swiftly identify and address any gaps in learning. She works closely with other childminder's so that she has opportunities to share ideas and update her knowledge.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is an extremely confident and effective communicator. She introduces and models the correct use of language, uses age-appropriate questioning and engages children in conversation during daily routines and activities. The childminder makes wonderful use of songs to support children's communication development. The childminder develops children's early mathematical skills well and offers interesting activities that encourage curiosity. For example, she encouraged the children to count the fruit they were preparing for snack time. The childminder uses regular and concise observations of the children to provide them with challenging and interesting activities which incorporate their individual interests and needs. The childminder takes the children on a number of outings, including museums, playgroups and local parks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are incredibly happy, calm and secure, and their behaviour is excellent. The childminder has a wonderfully kind and respectful approach to everything she does, allowing children to explore and discover in their own ways. The childminder has developed strong bonds with the children and offers praise and sensitive guidance at all times. There are many opportunities for the children to become independent learners. For example, they clean the table ready for snack time and choose and prepare the fruit they would like to eat.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are highly motivated and eager to join in. They make good progress from their starting points and are well prepared for school. They develop their mathematical skills particularly well and can recognise a range of numbers. They are excellent communicators, confidently sharing ideas and engaging in conversation.
