The provision is good
n Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder joins in with children's play and responds to their interests to extend and challenge their learning and development. She shows children how to do things and then steps back and encourages them to work together to achieve their aims, such as when using tools to manipulate modelling dough. n The childminder evaluates and continually improves her good teaching practice and outcomes for children. In response to parents feedback about her practice the childminder provides opportunities for children to walk during outings instead of sitting in a buggy. Children enjoy collecting items on outings that the childminder uses to help them understand the world. n Children are well behaved and develop good social skills. The childminder patiently encourages children to share the resources. Children politely ask others to take turns while using large tweezers, spoons and dinosaurs in dried pasta.
p.1

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures. She knows what to do if she is concerned about a child's safety and welfare. The childminder uses a secure childminding website to keep up to date with changes in safeguarding legislation. Since registration, the childminder has continually improved her professional development. She completes online webinars which has helped to improve her ability to evaluate her observations and assessments of children's development. She now gathers more precise information about children's progress to share with parents. The childminder supports children to learn about their safety. She reminds them to go slowly when using the steps to her premises.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides children with a good range of activities that she uses to support and extend their development. Children thoroughly enjoy making marks using pens and chalk in shaving foam and paint. The childminder successfully develops children communication and language skills. She talks with children, uses word cards with pictures and reads books to develop their good listening and understanding. The childminder often takes children to the library to support their great interest in books. Children develop and use a wide range of vocabulary. The childminder organises outings that broaden children's experiences, such as visits to nature reserves, zoos and adventure parks. She successfully develops children's confidence to use climbing equipment that provides them with good physical challenge.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder forms close relationships with the children who are happy and settled. She has a caring approach and responds appropriately, according to how children feel, to meet their individual needs. The childminder fully supports children's good health. She checks and adapts ingredients used during cooking activities to meet children's individual dietary needs. Children have lots of opportunities to play actively outdoors. The childminder supports children's awareness of differences in society. For example, children paint lanterns, use chopsticks and eat traditional food to celebrate Chinese New Year. They also make poppy wreaths that they take to a local church for Remembrance Day.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the skills they need for starting school. They quickly learn to do things for themselves, and independently attend to their personal care needs. Children are motivated to learn and concentrate and persist for long periods during activities that they enjoy. They confidently explore grass, mud and water and use their imagination while acting out their favourite story about a bear.
