The provision is good
n Children show they feel safe and secure in the setting and build secure bonds with the warm and nurturing childminder. This helps to build on their confidence and self- esteem. n The childminder completes regular observations and assessments of children's development. She uses this information to carefully review their progress and address any gaps in their learning. All children make good progress from the moment they start at the setting. n The childminder knows the children in her care very well. She provides children with activities that follow their interests and build on their next steps in learning. n The childminder forms strong links with all other settings that children attend. This helps to provide even more consistency in their learning and development. n The childminder reflects on her practice and plans accurately towards future improvements. For example, she has developed the outdoor environment to provide

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of what to do if she has a concern about a child's welfare. She keeps her child protection training up to date and reviews her policies regularly to ensure that she fully understands the local child protection procedures. The childminder completes daily risk assessments to help minimise hazards and to keep children safe. She shares regular information with parents about children's achievements and her plans towards their next steps. This helps to promote consistency in children's development. Parents are complimentary about the childminder. They comment that children are very happy in her care and are making good progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder promotes children's literacy skills well. For example, children enjoy pretend play and enthusiastically hunt for moon rocks from around the garden. They name the letters hidden inside and link them to the sounds that they represent. The childminder constantly asks children questions and encourages them to solve problems. For example, children work out how to change the texture of sand. They independently access water and enjoy making sandcastles. The childminder effectively promotes an understanding of the world. For example, children discuss the different planets in the solar system. They close the curtains and explore light, such as when using torches. Children build on mathematical skills. For example, they confidently discuss the differences in size, colour and shape of balloons.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children to lead healthy lifestyles. For example, children cut up fruit and explore new tastes and different textures. They go on regular walks, visit parks and spend time in the childminders garden, to gain plenty of exercise. The childminder helps children to learn about each other. She takes children to local groups to meet other children of similar ages. This helps them learn to socialise and make new friends. Children learn to think about personal safety, such as learning how to use knives safely. They behave well and enjoy regular praise and encouragement from the childminder. This motivates them further and builds good self-esteem.
