The provision is good
n The childminder has a good understanding awareness of how children learn and develop. She assesses what children can do and plans well for their next stage of development. n The childminder plans and provides a broad range of activities and experiences to support children's development in the home and in the community. n Partnerships are strong. She has met the previous recommendation well to engage with other settings children attend. This helps promote continuity of care and learning. n The childminder undertakes self-evaluation to improve the service she offers. For example, she seeks the views of parents and finds relevant training to improve and maintain good standards in care. n Children behave well and develop positive attitudes towards others different to them. Older children are confident, independent and motivated to learn.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
n At times, the childminder is not able to focus as fully on older children's learning due to the needs of younger children being settled.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of the signs that would cause her concern about a child's welfare and the appropriate agencies to report her concerns to. The childminder strives to further enhance her knowledge and skills. For example, she attends her childminders' network group regularly to gain relevant information, complete on-line courses and set professional goals. The childminder regularly monitors children's learning and development and undertakes required assessments. This allows her to identify any gaps in children's learning or to provide further new challenges. Parents express positive feedback of the progress their children make in their learning and the care provided by the childminder.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children's progress is tracked very well by the childminder. She ensures she collates information from the time children start in her care to inform her to assess what stage of development they are at and plan forward. The childminder has a good understanding of children's learning styles, interests and skills. She uses her skills from training well, such as teaching children about the outdoor environment. Children use language well as they learn to mirror the childminder in using descriptive language, for example, when they describe differences in other people. They are supported to explore, such as locating ants and spiders in the park with a magnifying glass. Older children play for long periods in activities of their own choice and make decisions about what they want to do.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Older children are confident to explore their surroundings; they move with ease form one playroom to another. The childminder organises a rich and stimulating child- orientated environment, helping most children to settle quickly on arrival. Children learn about personal safety from reminders the childminder provides. For example, how to cross the road with toy pushchairs the children take out in the community for the first time. The childminder helps children to develop healthy lifestyles. For example, older children are eager to run freely and climb large equipment in the park. Children develop good social skills, for example, they learn to share toys well with each other and they form new friends at community groups they regularly attend.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress to move on to school from their starting points. Older children show a strong interest in early reading and writing. Children are supported to gain high levels of independence, such as with tasks to put on their shoes and feeding. Children recognise shapes, match and recognise colours and numbers well.
