Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of who to contact if she has a concern about a child's welfare. She manages risks well to help keep children safe. The childminder checks her home for any hazards and takes prompt action to minimise any concerns. For instance, she turns over a rug to avoid any trip hazards for babies who are practising walking. The childminder forms close relationships with parents. She encourages them to share a lot of information about their child's achievements at home. Parents share positive comments about the childminder, such as about how caring she is with the children. They feel their children are making good progress in her care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder regularly observes children's learning to help plan accurately for the next stages in their development. She encourages them to make choices in their play and carefully introduces learning opportunities. Babies and young children explore natural resources, such as leaves and pine cones, and she carefully introduces counting into their play. They develop good physical skills. Babies practise their early walking skills with confidence. The childminder knows how to challenge older children, such as their climbing and balancing skills. She supports children's developing language well. Babies begin to build their vocabulary, and the childminder repeats words clearly to support children's speaking and listening skills further.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder gets to know children's needs extremely well from the moment they start. Babies and young children settle rapidly and show high levels of confidence as they explore her home. They behave extremely well for their age and stage of development. Children begin to show excellent care for each other and develop friendships. The childminder makes excellent use of children's play to help them learn about themselves and others, and about each other's differences. Children begin to learn how to keep themselves safe. For example, on outings she encourages young children to look and listen for cars before crossing the road safely.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Babies and children make good progress, given their starting points. They show a keen interest in early writing and reading. For example, children make marks with chalk on an easel and enjoy listening to stories. Children are well prepared for the next stages in their learning.
