Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is clear on what her roles and responsibilities are in regards to keeping children safe. She knows the potential signs and symptoms and how to report any possible concerns. She uses regular and concise risk assessments to maintain the safety of the environment. The childminder has created strong partnerships with parents and gathers relevant information when children first start. This helps her to identify children's individual needs, routines and care preferences. Written feedback from parents is positive. They comment that their children are happy and are progressing well. The childminder uses reflective and evaluative systems to monitor her practice, and updates her professional development regularly.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder monitors children's learning closely to ensure they all make good progress in their development, relative to their starting points. This includes children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. She uses these starting points with success to aid her planning and tracking of children's learning and development. The childminder's teaching is consistently strong. She provides many activities that support children's language and communication skills. For example, when she was reading a book about transport, she made the sounds the different vehicles make and encouraged children to join in.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides children with a stimulating and welcoming environment. The children are extremely happy and secure, and have built strong attachments with the childminder. Children enjoy trips within the community, such as farms, local parks and playgroups, enabling children to play with others and develop an awareness of the diverse community in which they live. Children receive plenty of attention, affection and praise, which supports their emotional well-being successfully.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and enthusiastic learners. They show concentration for sustained length of time in activities that interest them. Children are developing good communication skills given their starting points. Children are well prepared for future learning, including the move on to school.
